Better have those Kleenex on standby. It looks like Arrow’s April 27th episode is not going to pull any emotional punches.

Last night’s episode (spoilers ahead if you’ve not yet seen “11:59”) finally revealed whose grave Oliver was visiting in the season premiere flash forward, as Team Arrow lost one of their own.

While Oliver did his best to prevent Damian Darhk’s escape from prison, he was ultimately defeated when Darhk’s powers were restored, and the arch villain made good on his escape.

But to insult to injury Darhk also made good on that promise to Quenten Lance by taking his daughter’s life in retaliation.

At first, we imagined Laurel’s arrow wound might not be fatal, but the episode had one final surprise for fans, and following a heart to heart with Oliver, Laurel died at 11:59 — revealing the meaning behind the episode’s cryptic title.

These just-released photos from “Canary Cry” show the true extent of the heartbreak of Laurel’s friends and family.

“Canary Cry” airs Wednesday April 27 on the CW Network.

OLIVER, LANCE AND TEAM DEAL WITH LAUREL’S DEATH

Oliver (Stephen Amell) and the team struggle to come to terms with Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) death, especially Diggle (David Ramsey) who is overwhelmed with guilt for choosing to believe Andy (guest star Eugene Byrd) had changed.

Meanwhile, Lance (Paul Blackthorne) refuses to believe his daughter is really gone and asks Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) to help bring her back.

A recent Black Canary sighting in Star City only seems to prove his theory that Laurel isn’t actually dead.

Laura Belsey directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Beth Schwartz (#419).
