Jane and Kurt are officially back in Season 3 of NBC’s Blindspot.

The next chapter, set some 18 months after the explosive Sandstorm/Shepherd/Roman finale, sees Jane and Kurt reunited when a new crisis threatens the safety of the world.

Why did this pair part ways? Where and why did Jane acquire her new bio-luminescent tattoos? And how intent on revenge is Jane’s estranged brother Roman, now that he feels he has nothing to lose?

All of those answers can be found in these 5 new sneak peek clips from the Season Premiere “Back to the Grind,” and also in 2 new video interviews with series stars Sullivan Stapleton and Luke Mitchell, courtesy of NBC.

So what have we learned so far? To start, it seems Roman fancifully views himself as a Count of Monte Cristo figure — an innocent man wrongfully imprisoned, and now set free to wreak revenge on those who wronged him.

Secondly, it seems Jane may have picked up her new ink approximately 4 months ago following an accident after which she drifted in and out of consciousness for 3-4 days. But is Roman really responsible, as Jane suspects? It appears so.

“He’s gone away and he’s done some thinking, and he’s holding a pretty big grudge on his sister,” says Mitchell. “He’s not going to let her get away with what she did to him. He feels like she betrayed him and stole his life. He’s not going to let that go. He’s got a pretty big plan — and he’s going to use her to see that plan come to fruition.”

As for what happened between Kurt and Jane? Sullivan Stapleton reveals that “Kurt proposed to Jane in Venice,” a location returned two by both characters in the premiere episode.

“He lost his wife,” muses Stapleton on the split, and the reasons behind it. “It was a hard landing for these two characters. Jane took off ultimately for the safety of each other. And Kurt? Kurt put the tools down and chased her. And although he understands she left for his safety, I think it hurt him a lot.”

Meanwhile, we will learn that Reed, Zapata and Patterson (all equally estranged following the collapse of their team) now find themselves at the mercy of persons unknown when they are each kidnapped and thrown together in a cell.

All this, a stunning premiere shooting location in Venice Italy, and Ennis Esmer’s Rich Dotcom as a new series regular?

We’ll be there when Blindspot returns Friday, October 27 (8:00-9:00 pm) on NBC.
