Supergirl fans have cause to celebrate. The show returns on Monday with a surprisingly emotional hour that somehow still manages to sandwich a ton of surprises between all the action beats.

While we’ll see Kara dealing (or choosing not to deal) with the loss on Mon-El, there’s also a new big bad in town, as Adrian Pasdar takes on the role of determined DC super-villain Morgan Edge.

Meanwhile, a new villain, Bloodsport, challenges Supergirl like never before, an ordinary citizen discovers a surprising connection to the Girl of Steel, and Alex worries about her upcoming wedding to Maggie.

We’ve seen the premiere a little early, thanks to our friends at the CW, and have a number of teasers to share with you.

As usual, we avoid outright spoilers and plot point reveals that would ruin your experience of the live event. That said, we urge you to proceed with caution anyway, as one woman’s teaser is another woman’s spoiler, as the old phrase we just made up goes.

Mom-El?

You might be forgiven for thinking you’ve accidentally stumbled into the middle of a country music video in the opening moments of Supergirl’s season 3 premiere.

Think warm sunshine, plaintive crooning, and soft breezes, as Kara strolls through a cornfield, gently stroking the agriculture.

But wait! Who’s that with her stroking her hand? Ok, we get it. It’s a fantasy. Or is it?

“Mon-El will return at some point,” executive producer Robert Rovner confirmed during San Diego Comic Con this summer. “But how he does is one of the central mysteries of Season 3.”

Whatever the plans for Mon-El are, it’s clear the writers are keen for us not to forget about him any time soon.

But wait. There’s a little more to this fantasy. Who’s that in the distance? Things are getting a little crowded in here.

What sort of a dream sequence is this anyway? Well, there’s definitely more to this moment than wish fulfilment.
