Freeform is Planning a Remake of MISFITS

By on June 6, 2017

Freeform is planning a remake of Misfits, the gritty British supernatural series which originally saw a disparate group of young offenders thrown together in a community service program.

However the group soon discover they have more in common than previously thought when a freak electrical storm grants them supernatural powers.

The series originally ran for five seasons on E4 from 2009 to 2013.

Freeform has given the green light to a pilot, from writer/producer Diane Ruggiero-Wright (whose credits include iZombie and Veronica Mars), who will serve as showrunner if the pilot is picked up to series.

Deadline reports that the cast includes Ashleigh Lathrop (Sirens) as Alicia, a spoiled, vapid, middle-class party girl, Tre Hall (Ten Days in the Valley) as Curtis, a talented and cocky football player with a promising career ahead of him, Jake Cannavale (Nurse Jackie) as Nathan, a con artist with a heavily inflated sense of his own attractiveness, intelligence and potential, and Allie MacDonald (Orphan Black) as Kelly, who is street-smart with a hair-trigger temper.

So far so very keeping with the original series. More as we have it.
