GAME OF THRONES is Getting its own After-Show
“If The Walking Dead is doing it then so should we,” seems to be the reasoning behind this latest creative decision from HBO.
That’s right. Game of Thrones is about to receive its own Talking Dead style after-show.
HBO and Bill Simmons are teaming up for a weekly show with the aim of taking a “lively, humorous and sophisticated look” at the massively popular fantasy drama.
The once weekly show will be hosted by Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan (of Grantland’s Watch the Thrones podcast).
Titled “After the Thrones” the after-show will recap the latest episode, explaining the who, what, when and where, exploring the complicated politics and history of Thrones, and offering absurd and not-so-absurd theories about future episodes.
The weekly edition will be available Mondays on HBO NOW, HBO GO and HBO On Demand, as well as other affiliate portals with play-dates on the main HBO channel will be announced as they are confirmed.
And yes, we know what you’re thinking, because we’re thinking it too. A full day after the episode airs? Doesn’t that kind of defeat the whole idea of an after-show show?
Game of Thrones returns to HBO, Sunday April 24, 2016 in the US, and on Sky Atlantic in the UK on April 25.
