Get the Look: Pretty Little Liars

By on July 6, 2015

One of television’s most popular shows, Pretty Little Liars, is currently airing it’s summer season on ABC Family.

The series, which just began it’s sixth season, tells the story of five teenage girls being mercilessly blackmailed and tricked by the mysterious ‘A’.

Aria, Alison, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer lead a less then normal high school existence in Rosewood, Pennsylvania. They are far less concerned with grades and college essays and more focused on maintaining their innocence and revealing and ending ‘A’ once and for all. The show is filled with twists, turns, and suspense, but what makes it all even better are the wardrobe choices for the girls.

Each girl’s wardrobe distinctly displays her personality while at the same time consisting of easily accessible brands for fans of the show. Spencer is smart and often looks like she has fallen straight from the pages of a catalogue for a preppy clothing company. Hanna’s style has changed a bit over the span of the show — right along with her self discovery. Aria meanwhile is artsy and has an old soul, and her style is quite bold, mixing prints and statement pieces. And while Emily is more laid back, sporty, and edgy, Alison has a more simple and chic style about her.

To celebrate the new season I took a look back at each one of the girls’ best looks from season 5, picked my favorite, and found similar items so the looks can be recreated in every day life.

Alison’s look from episode 8, “Scream for Me,” is a chic skirt and blazer combo which one probably wouldn’t necessarily wear to high school, but can be perfect for a business casual type of work setting.

Shop Alison’s look: Nasty Gal skirt, Zara handbag, Missguided blazer, Forever 21 ankle strap heels, ASOS statement earrings, Forever 21 crop top

Aria’s outfit in “Bloody Hell” is a bit more understated than her usual mixing of bold prints, but still that interesting new take on suspenders is a bit daring.

Shop Aria’s look: Free People crossbody bag, Zara suede ankle booties, Express crop top, Forever 21 chain bangles, Topshop midi skirt

Emily’s outfit from the 100th episode “Miss Me x 100,” is one of the most popular ensembles of the entire series so far. It’s so effortlessly cool while remaining casual and stylish. It’s really suitable for any day to day situation (switch out the leather shorts for regular black shorts if you quite aren’t that daring).

Shop Emily’s look: H&M leather shorts, Forever 21 floral tee, ASOS backpack, Topshop sneakers, Topshop bomber jacket

During the span of season five Hanna’s look went from chic to edgy and back again. This particular denim jacket paired with bodycon dress also from “Miss Me x 100” was during a bit of the in between phase. It’s still fairly edgy but could easily be worn for a night out or even to work.

Shop Hanna’s look: Ecote fringe bag, ASOS shift dress, Vegan ankle booties, H&M denim jacket

PLLF05

As previously mentioned, Spencer has a very chic preppy influenced style which feels much less high school and more unpaid law firm internship. That said, this look from “Oh What Hard Luck Stories They All Hand Me” is by far my favorite of season 5.

Shop Spencer’s look: Topshop jeans, Forever 21 top, Charlotte Russe flats, Madewell clutch, Kate Spade necklace
