First Glimpse At Reimagined ‘Total Recall’

By on July 19, 2011

Pictured above is the first picture to make its way online from the upcoming remake of the 1990 scifi film Total Recall.

Colin Farrell takes over the role as Douglas Quaid originally made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

According to EW, “Farrell describes the movie as ‘much less jokey’ than the 1990 version. He claims that the tone will be completely different than what we saw in the past. There’s not as much tongue-in-cheek,’ he says.”

It’s not the only change audiences can expect.

The original set much of the movie’s action on Mars, which is something the remake will not do.  Instead, the focus will be on two opposing power blocs, Euromerica and New Shanghai, in a futuristic Earth.

The movie is being directed by Underworld’s Len Wiseman, and stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston and Bill Nighy.

Total Recall opens August 3rd 2012.

WHY???? this is one of those i dont think they should remake…. that said i think because they are changing the premise and bit and they are using colin farrell, it might be a good action movie. The original was good but if this one takes it to the next level of effects and action it could be a decent remake 🙂

I was initially skeptical, but I think I like the idea of a version which isn’t as funny as the first. That would be a lot closer to Dick’s original story, which they altered quite a bit in the Schwarzenegger version. It’ll be interesting to see how this one turns out.
