Harlan Ellison Sues Over Justin Timberlake Thriller
In Time is a new scifi thriller starring Justin Timberlake and Olivia Wilde, which you may not be watching any time soon.
Science Fiction writer Harlan Ellison claims that the movie is too close in theme to his 1965 short story Repent Harlequin! Said the Ticktockman and has filed a copyright infringement suit in LA Federal court.
According to Ellison, he recently handed his original story to a third party for adaptation to the big screen. His intention was to then approach the studios with it.
Ellison has been known to file a number of such suits in the past, including one against the Terminator movie, which he claimed was lifted from two Outer Limits episodes he wrote.
In addition to blocking the movie’s October 28th release date, Ellison is suing for compensation.
