Johnny Depp to Star, Edgar Wright to Direct ‘The Night Stalker’

Walt Disney Pictures is developing a big screen version of the 1970s TV movie The Night Stalker, according to an article in DeadlineThe original ABC movie of the week, which spurred a sequel film (The Night Strangler) and a TV series (Kolchak: The Night Stalker) starred Darren McGavin as Carl Kolchak, a scruffy crime reporter who discovers the serial killer he’s investigating is an honest to God vampire. Johnny Depp is slated to play Kolchak in the new movie, which will be directed by Shaun of the Dead‘s Edgar Wright.
