A new trailer hit the web today for director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, which is scheduled for release on June 8, 2012 in IMAX 3D. It’s only slightly over a minute long and there’s still not much dialogue, but the visuals are stunning. It’s rumored that a longer trailer will be released in the next day or two.

Prometheus was originally planned as a direct prequel to the 1979 sci-fi horror classic Alien, but is now being described as a film set in the Alien universe with no characters or story lines that precede the 1979 film. Prometheus is being released by 20th Century Fox, and stars Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce and Patrick Wilson.
