By on February 9, 2012

Four words: Nazis from the moon! Iron Sky, a dark science fiction comedy about an attack on earth by our old enemies who have occupied the far side of the moon since the end of World War II, is making its debut at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 11. The film was directed by Timo Vuorensola (whose previous fan film Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning was a huge Internet hit), and the musical score is composed by Laibach. Iron Sky is expected to be released in theaters worldwide beginning April 4, 2012.

A significant portion of the money for Iron Sky was raised through Internet crowd funding, a novel approach to film financing. The fundraising is ongoing; any enthusiastic space Nazi fans who want to own a piece of this modern classic can find out more on Iron Sky‘s official website.

Iron Sky is a co-production of Blind Spot Pictures and Energia Productions in Finland, 27 Films in Germany, and New Holland Pictures in Australia. The film stars Christopher Kirby, Udo Kier, Stephanie Paul, Götz Otto, and Julia Dietze.
