‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 4’ Passes $1 Billion
Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films have confirmed that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, has crossed the $1 billion threshold in global box office last weekend. It’s estimated that $774 million is from international sales and $233.7 million is from domestic (US) sales.
On Stranger Tides is the second Pirates movie to reach $1 billion following 2006’s Dead Man’s Chest. This means that five of the ten highest grossing movies of all time are now from Walt Disney Studios, including three pirates of the Caribbean movies, Toy Story 3 and Alice in Wonderland.
That’s a lot of pirates!
