Tom Hanks on Toy Story 4: They’re working on it now

By on June 27, 2011

Tom Hanks was on BBC’s Breakfast News in the UK this morning to promote his new movie Larry Crowne.  When asked if there would ever be a Toy Story 4, Hanks replied, “I think there will be yeah. Yeah, yeah. They’re working on it now. There you go.”

The news is contrary to what Pixar (responsible for the Toy Story trilogy) has said in the past about a fourth installment to the franchise.   Despite Toy Story 3 becoming the highest grossing animated movie ever, Producer Darla K. Anderson previously stated  “We have no plans for it at this point. We really worked hard at bringing ‘Toy Story 3′ to a conclusion. We do have the short films that we are working on because we love the characters so much and want to keep them alive. One of the short films will be in front of ‘Cars 2′ next summer.

Can audiences look forward to a series of shorts and another movie length installment to the franchise, or is this a case of mixed messages?

Stay tuned to find out.
