Following on from last week’s news that Stranger Things is officially back in production, and a collective sigh of relief to learn that Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) is set to return next year, comes some interesting casting news in the form of Lord of the Rings and The Strain’s Sean Astin, and Aliens’ Paul Reiser.

Netflix teases that Astin will take on the role of Bob Newby next season. Bob is described as “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.”

Reiser meanwhile has been cast as Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.”

Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen was also recently announced. Berthelsen will take on the role of Roman, “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab.”

The latest additions join the recently announced Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery as sibling duo Max and Billy.
