Sasha’s Fate Revealed on AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD

With recent episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead gathering the kindling for what we hope will prove an explosive finale, events may finally have been given a desperately needed spark in Sunday’s “The Other Side.”

The episode followed Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Rosita’s (Christian Serratos) ill-fated plan to take out Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a plan we all pretty much knew couldn’t succeed.

In the final moments, unable to take a clear shot from a distance, the pair decided to go all Butch and Sundance, taking their revenge-fueled agenda through the compound corridors and as close to Negan as they could get before being shot down themselves.

Well, that was pretty much how Rosita imagined things were going to go until Sasha trapped her behind a fence and took off alone to take out Negan by herself in a plan that made even less sense. When we last saw Rosita she was sobbing (regretfully? angrily? we just don’t know anymore!). However her private moment of personal reflection was cut short by the sight of a shadowy figure with a crossbow emerging from the shadows. Daryl? While we’re hoping yes, we’re thinking it’s most likely Dwight — but the fact that he hasn’t taken advantage of the element of surprise makes us wonder if he might be considering switching up allegiances?

And what about Sasha? Is it possible she actually made it all the way to Negan’s boudoir, as Eugene termed it? Actually no. New photos from next Sunday’s “Something They Need” reveal Sasha’s immediate, if not long-term, fate. (Spoilers ahead.)

It appears Sasha’s lone wolf mission failed, earning her a spot in the “Dipshit Training Room,” where you will recall Daryl spent quite some time, chilling, eating junk food and listening to music.

The fact that Sasha was taken alive means that Negan will want to question her — an event that surely will prove deadly to Maggie’s group back at Hilltop, and to Rick’s plans for a successful rebellion. Not to mention her life. Alternatively, Negan will attempt to turn Sasha, like he did Daryl, although his interest in making a second attempt on one of Rick’s people might be low, considering how disastrously Daryl’s ‘conversion’ went.

We really wish Sasha had thought this one through more carefully.
