Trend Report: The Denim Skirt
Nearly every trend I followed in middle school is back today. First it was Adidas Superstar sneakers, and now, it is denim skirts. Sure, the fashion cycle brings everything back around full circle, but never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever wish for that button front Tommy Hilfiger denim skirt once more. I practically lived in that skirt back in the day (with my Adidas Superstars, of course).
The denim skirt trend of now is heavy on the 70s vibes rather than the crisp GAP look of the 90s, but the versatility is the same. There is a wash, style, and length for every individual no matter what their taste may be. There are also a surprising amount of ways to style it.
Styling is easy whether paired with other trendy pieces like off the shoulder tops or sneakers to pairings with basic essentials. Button front styles pair nicely with leather jackets (while not summer appropriate think fall), and pencil skirt styles are appropriate for work when paired with a crisp white button down.
Whether dark wash, distressed, or with kitschy patches there is a style of denim skirt for everyone. There’s no excuse not to add one of these retro inspired pieces to your wardrobe.
