TURN: Washington’s Spies, our favorite Revolutionary War spy thriller returns for a third season on AMC on April 25.

With many pieces now falling into place (historically, at least) the season ahead is poised to build towards one of the most notorious moments in American history – the treasonous defection of Benedict Arnold (Owain Yeoman).

Behind enemy lines on Long Island, Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell) remains true to his cause as a spy for the Patriots, reporting directly to George Washington (Ian Kahn). However the season 2 finale saw Abe undone by the relentless tracker Robert Rogers (Angus Macfadyen).

Rogers who was cruelly ambushed by assassins last season, but still managed to make good on his escape, now holds John André responsible for this betrayal. This season finds Rogers seeking to enact his revenge upon André. The premiere will reveal that his untimely (for Abe) return to Setauket is in preparation to employ his best trap yet – Abraham Woodhull.

Meanwhile, embedded within the Continental Army, Benedict Arnold is being seduced by Peggy Shippen (Ksenia Solo) to become an informant for the British, at great personal cost to Peggy who now finds herself unhappily engaged to Arnold. Now, she must secure Arnold’s loyalty to the British, while postponing her wedding long enough in hopes of Major John André (JJ Feild) returning to steal her away.

AMC teases that as the consequences of their espionage ripple through the battlefield, the spy game becomes a heart- stopping race to see which mole will be unmasked first. In 1778, there is only one fate that awaits a captured spy — the hangman’s noose. The price for treason is blood, and not all of our heroes will survive.

We’ve got a small gallery of photos from the Season Premiere to share below.

The first episode of the season is called “Valediction” and AMC tease it as follows:

Abe covers up a murder with an unlikely accomplice. Benedict Arnold abuses his power as he settles into a new home in Philadelphia.
