6 Things to Know about Bones Season Nine Premiere “The Secret in the Proposal”
Bones is back Monday September 16th with a brand new season and a bunch of cliffhanger issues we really want to see resolved.
Last season we witnessed Brennan cruelly rejected by Booth, an action orchestrated by Pelant who claimed he would kill five random strangers if Booth didn’t call off his wedding plans.
So where do things stand for the unlucky couple headed into the show’s ninth season? FOX recently treated ScreenSpy to a viewing of the season premiere episode “The Secret in the Proposal” and although we’re not allowed to outright spoil you with a blow by blow account of events, we can share the following teasery factoids with you:
1. “Forgive me father, for I have sinned.”
… are the opening words spoken by Booth in the premiere episode. Burdened by guilt, Booth has taken to visiting an old friend and ex-priest (Who claims Booth was the reason he left the priesthood, by the way) who is now a bar-tender in a run down local establishment. Between shots of Burbon, Booth confesses that he has lied to the woman he loves. However, “tin foil hat paranoid” of the bar’s surveillance equipment, he stops short at telling Aldo anything else.
2. Hell hath no fury like the friend of a woman scorned
Angela is not shy about telling Booth what she thinks of his despicable behavior, accusing him at one point of “ruining [Brennan’s] very fragile heart.”
3. Shameless plug!
During a low key moment between Angela and Hodgins, Hodgins asks Angela if she remembered to DVR Sleepy Hollow. We’re going to go right ahead and assume this is a reference to FOX’s new supernatural drama which premieres directly after Bones in the 9-10 pm time-slot. (We’ve seen the premiere episode and can fully commend Hodgin’s choice in TV viewing.)
Daisy and Hodgins
4. How do you remove the splattered remains from a six ton industrial air conditioning unit? Why use a parachute of course! Watch Hodgins team up with Daisy for some alternative thinking in this first case of the season.
5. Career Change?
We’ll get to meet Danny Beck (guest star Freddie Pinze Jr), a flashy CIA agent who crosses paths with Booth earlier in the episode, and returns later with a potentially interesting job opportunity. Don’t go there Booth!
6. The Talk
Booth’s heavy conscience is causing him to snap at his colleagues – Brennan included. Desperate to find a way to tell her he still loves her and is committed to their relationship, he spends much of the premiere episode skirting around the truth, and keeping a close eye on all electronic equipment in the vicinity. Booth wants to convince Brennan to have faith, but for Brennan, who believes in facts, this might just prove an impossible task. Brennan spends her time between casework amalgamating data which could prove Booth is ready to move on to greener pastures. (Or so she thinks.) The final scene sees a heavy conversation between our two leads as they sit down to have The Talk. But where will they go form here?
Catch “The Secret in the Siege” Monday September 16th (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
