CW Network has set an October 9, 2012 air date for Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, the cult hit web musical from Joss Whedon (who has established Geek God credentials as the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Serenity, and of course as the writer/director of this summer’s smash theatrical blockbuster, The Avengers).

Dr. Horrible stars Neil Patrick Harris in the title role as a supervillain wannabe with Firefly‘s Nathan Fillion as his superhero nemesis Captain Hammer, and also features Simon Helberg (The Big Bang Theory) and Felicia Day (The GuildBuffy the Vampire Slayer).  The series debuted as a free web download with three 15-minute episodes in 2008, but has ballooned in popularity over the last several years with the availability of an extras-packed DVD, official soundtrack, a comic book series, and Dr. Horrible sing-along event showings at the San Diego Comic-Con and many other major conventions.

The show will be an edited version of the three-part original, and is planned as a one-off musical special; however, CW President Mark Pedowitz has announced that he hopes Whedon will do a Dr. Horrible  sequel for their network.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog will air on Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 9 PM ET/PT on the CW. Stay tuned for news on the sequel!

I saw this trilogy many years ago and tell everyone who loves Nathan Fillion, Castle, Neil Patrick Harris, HIMYM, and/or Whedon.

Favorite song: A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do! Ahhhh, music to mine ears! Glad it’s going more mainstream!
