Alias Actor Joins Cast of Awake, NBC’s New Sci-Fi Crime Drama

By on January 31, 2012

Kevin Weisman (Marshall from Alias) has joined the cast of the upcoming supernatural/sci-fi crime drama series Awake, which is expected to premiere in March on NBC. Awake stars Jason Isaacs (who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films) as Michael Britten, a police detective whose life is splintered in two when he survives a deadly automobile accident. In one reality, Britten’s wife survives the crash but his teenage son is killed; in the other, his wife is dead but his son is alive. Kevin Weisman will play the mysterious Mr. Blonde, who appears in both of Detective Britten’s realities.

Awake was created by Kyle Killen, and also stars B.D. Wong, Steve Harris, Wilmer Valderrama, Laura Allen, and Dylan Minnette.

We were certainly sucked in by the extended promo below. Awake could be one of the most exciting and original shows of 2012, and we’re looking forward to seeing if it lives up to its promise.

Hm. If they do it *right* — if they can keep the complications flowing without suffering from the Epic Scale (“how can we top that”) problem which has killed several other promising shows — this does look like it has promise.

(Hi, TJ… No, you probably don’t remember me; at the time I was just another mostly-quiet person in, or just outside, the circle.)

Hi back, Joe (I’d need a few more clues to see if I remember you). 🙂 I’m hoping they can pull this off – Kyle Killen (the show’s creator) was interviewed on the radio show ‘The Treatment’ recently, and said the biggest problem most people see with it is that it might be “too smart” for network TV. Sigh.
