Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has had no trouble landing prominent roles on stage and screen in the last year, including the hit spy film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the new Star Trek movie, but now he has officially attained superstardom: He will be voicing a character on an upcoming episode of Fox’s long-running animated series The Simpsons, according to the London Evening Standard.

Cumberbatch says he just happened to be in the right place at the right time to land the role, as he was in a meeting where The Simpsons is recorded. When he discovered that there was a role for the current episode still uncast, he asked if he could record it, and “Next thing, I’m standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa.”

There are no details available yet on what the animated Cumberbatch character will look like, but we’re betting he’ll be wearing a stylish scarf.
