Brennan is about to meet her new intern Oliver Wells (Brian Klugman) under alarming circumstances on Bones’ next episode “The Fact in the Fiction.”

With tensions still high following Brennan’s shooting, an incident at a local cafe looks likely to erupt into violence (read Booth popping a cap in someone’s head) unless the tense moment can be diffused. Watch how Wells manages to do so in this first of three sneak peeks from Monday’s episode in the clip below.

Speaking to ScreenSpy in a recent interview Emily Deschanel described how the new intern would change the dynamic in the lab, especially for Brennan herself.

“Oliver Wells is played by Brian Klugman, and he is a very interesting intern.  Oliver Wells comes in, and he is an out-of-the-box thinker. He has multiple degrees. He challenges Brennan like nobody has challenged her before. He challenges her to think outside the box. He’s a really fun character and super smart. Brennan questions whether he’s smarter than she is, which is new and different as well.

Most of the interns, they’re all so different, but they all kind of defer to Brennan and respect her. Not that he doesn’t respect me; but they kind of defer to Brennan and give her that authority. He challenges everything. He doesn’t need this job. He has multiple degrees. He almost has his forensic anthropology degree, but not quite. He thinks outside the box and knows about so many different disciplines.  He questions everything, and that’s a refreshing character to have in the lab.

Brian does a great job playing it, and he’s fun to have onset.  It’s very fun to see Brennan challenged in that way, and you see that very rarely anywhere, but especially with interns.  I think it’s going to be a real exciting episode to see.”

Meet Oliver Wells Monday February 25th (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
