“Six seasons and a movie! Six seasons and a movie!” The rallying cry of Community fans is one step closer to becoming reality this week, as NBC announced that it will be renewing the cult favorite sit-com for a fourth season in 2012. Although the season will be a short one (13 episodes), it’s still great news for a show that has consistently struggled in the ratings despite critical acclaim and a rabidly enthusiastic fan base. Thirteen new episodes will bring the total episode count of the show up to 84 … not yet enough to guarantee immortality in syndication, but certainly closer than before.

Community’s third season concludes on Thursday, May 17 with all three final episodes being aired that night. Go Greendale!
