Despite puling in around one million viewers less per episode than last season, HBO has officially renewed vampire drama True Blood for a sixth season.

The news comes following the show’s ratings success on Sunday, in which it was ranked as cable’s number one show of the day.

Season six will see co-executive producer Mark Hudis (Nurse Jackie, That 70’s Show) taking on show runner duties as creator Alan Ball takes a backseat.

True Blood continues Sundays (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO.
