The first official trailer has emerged for Blood and Chrome, the long-awaited two-hour pilot for SyFy’s proposed new Battlestar Galactica prequel series. Blood and Chrome is set during the first Cylon war, and stars Luke Pasqualino (Skins) as the young William “Husker” Adama. Ben Cotton and Lili Bordán also star. BSG and Caprica composer Bear McCreary wrote the music for the pilot, although the music that accompanies the trailer is Led Zeppelin’s “The Immigrant Song” as covered by Karen O and Trent Reznor.

Blood and Chrome is heavy on CGI, since many of the sets used on BSG were destroyed after the show went off the air and had to be recreated as computer images for the new show. This definitely adds to the feeling that you’re watching the trailer for a video game as opposed to a movie, although the space battles do look impressive. Let’s hope this new show can manage to create the intricate plots and depth of characters that made BSG so successful.
