Jeff Daniels stars in the new series from The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin, The Newsroom, which debuts this summer on HBO. Daniels portrays Will McAvoy, a prime-time cable TV news anchor host who becomes a controversial figure when he starts to voice his political views publicly. Based in part on the experiences of recently-fired political commentator Keith Olbermann, The Newsroom appears to have plenty of the smart, fast dialogue, rich characters, and explosive drama that Sorkin is famous for.

The cast of The Newsroom also includes Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Olivia Munn, and Dev Patel, with Sam Waterston as Charlie Skinner, the president of McAvoy’s cable network. Jane Fonda guest stars as Leona Lansing, CEO of the network’s parent company.

Watch the trailer below. The Newsroom is planned to premiere in the US on June 24, on HBO.
