Game of Thrones Bags ‘Outstanding New Program’ at TCAs

The Television Critics Association honored Game of Thrones over the weekend by giving it the award for Outstanding New Show.

The non televised event was held at the Beverly Hilton, site of the 2011 summer TCA Press tour, on Saturday night.

The critically acclaimed sports drama Friday Night Lights won this year’s award for Program of the Year, with actors Jon Hamm, Ty Burrell and Nick Offerman receiving awards for best acting.

Game of Thrones was joined by Modern Family, Mad Men and even Sesame Street as Outstanding Program award winners.

The winners included:

Individual Achievement in Drama: Jon Hamm in Mad Men

Individual Achievement in Comedy: Ty Burrell in Modern Family and Nick Offerman in Parks and Recreation

Outstanding Achievement in Youth Programming: Sesame Street

Outstanding New Program: Game of Thrones

Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials: Masterpiece: Sherlock

Outstanding Achievement in Drama: Mad Men

Outstanding Achievement in Comedy: Modern Family

Game of Thrones returns to our screens for its second season in 2012.
