By on August 11, 2011

Welsh actor Robert Pugh has landed a role in Game of Thrones‘ second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Pugh will play Craster, a character who features in A Clash of Kings, the second book in George RR Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire series.

Craster’s Keep lies beyond the Wall and maintains an uneasy alliance with the Night’s Watch.

Craster himself has a deeply unpleasant relationship with his 19 wives.  As Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Samwell (John Bradley) begin to unravel the mysteries of the Keep, they cross paths with Gilly (Hannah Murray), one of Craster’s women, desperate to escape.

Robert Pugh’s previous credits include Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and The Ghost Writers.

Production on Games of Thrones’ second season is currently underway in Belfast in Northern Ireland.
