Constantine’s Renewal Status is …
While some media outlets are busy scrambling to redact their previous ‘Constantine is moving to Syfy’ remarks, show executive producer and writer Daniel Cerone took to Twitter this week to clarify the status of the show.
Renewed? Cancelled? More like limboed … for now. Here’s what we know.
Cerone told anxious fans that a second season will be pitched to the Network in May 2015. If there is no interest at that time, a cancellation will be announced. This means it’s probably safe to ignore those cancellation/renewal rumours for now.
Additionally, with the studio currently holding the contract on the writers and cast till mid-June, NBC will not decide on bubble shows like Constantine until their new pilots are in, in early May. Cerone’s advice to fans? “Be patient and STREAM.”
In slightly less nebulous news, social media volume was the highest it has been all season (3 episode track: 16K, 21K, 29K) for the finale last week.
If Constantine should return, Cerone wants to embrace a more serialized storytelling model, moving away from monster of the week style episodes, which many would see as a good move.
More as we have it.
