Is Ashley Returning in Revenge’s Third Season?
Per Deadline today, Ashley Madekwe, known to fans as Ashley Davenport of ABC’s Revenge will not be making a season 3 return. The Revenge actress’s option was not picked up due to ‘storyline’ reasons, according to the report.
Madekwe’s Ashley Davenport had multiple storylines over the course of the show’s last two seasons, but often seemed to struggle to find a solid footing and character arcs that could be described as purely her own. In season one Ashley was Victoria’s assistant, Emily’s ‘close’ friend and Tyler’s girlfriend. In season two, Ashley dated Daniel, had an affair with Conrad and went on to help Conrad run his race for the Governorship of New York, while secretly plotting against him with Jack.
With Conrad now elected Governor, Ashley’s final story arc appears to be tapped out. Madekwe is the second series regular to exit Revenge this year. Connor Paolo also departed the show in the season finale when his character Decaln Porter died following a bomb blast at Grayson Global.
In addition, Revenge also will also start season three with new showrunner Sunil Nayar who recently stepped in to replace creator Mike Kelley.
