NBC Pilot Orders: Katherine Heigl’s “State of Affairs” & Amy Poehler’s “Old Soul”

By on January 20, 2014

In recent pilot news, NBC has ordered State of Affairs a new drama from Universal Television, helmed by Joe Carnahan.

Starring Katherine Heigl, this new hopeful follows a key CIA attaché (Heigl) who counsels the president on high-stakes incidents around the world as she balances her intense political responsibilities with a complicated personal life.

Heigl also serves as executive producer alongside Nancy Heigl, Alexi Hawley, Bob Simonds, Sophie Watts, Henry Crumpton, Julia Franz and Rodney Faraon.

And if comedy is more your thing then you may be interested to hear that Parks and Rec’s Amy Poehler is currently prepping Old Soul (a working title, we’re told) from Universal Television, Paperkite Productions, and 3 Arts.

Poehler, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Dave Becky, Jon Fener and Josh Bycel, plays Lyonne, a young woman who’s trying to find herself, but in the meantime works as the aide to a group of elderly people.
