Actor John Noble (Lord of the Rings, Fringe) landed the Critics’ Choice Award yesterday for best supporting actor in a drama series. Noble plays the eccentric Walter Bishop from the JJ Abrams-created hit TV show Fringe.

Fringe was recently renewed for a fourth season.

The Critics’ Choice Television Awards were created by the Broadcast Television Critics Association to act as a counterpoint to the annual Emmy Awards.  Among this year’s crop of winners were those with no previous Emmy nominations, but who remain firm fan favorites.

Other winners include:

  • John Hamm for Best Actor in a Drama Series (Mad Men)
  • Julianna Margulies for Best Actress in a Drama Series (The Good Wife)
  • Christina Hendricks for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Mad Men)
  • Margo Martindale for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Justified)
  • Jim Parsons for Best Actor in a Comedy Series  (The Big Bang Theory)
  • Tina Fey for Best Actress in a Comedy Series (30 Rock)
  • Neil Patrick Harris for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (How I Met Your Mother)
  • Busy Philipps for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Cougar Town)

The Critics’ Choice Awards air on ReelzChannel Wednesday night at 8.
