Amy Acker is set to join the Person of Interest cast as a series regular, it was revealed at Comic Con this weekend.

Acker took on the persona of the sinister and dangerous Root during the show’s second season, a role which gave Finch (Michael Emerson) a worthy nemesis and intellectual equal to work against as they fought each other for control of Harold’s Machine.

When we last saw Root, she was (securely?) locked away in a mental institution, following the spectacular derailment of her plans to set the Machine free. However, if you’ve been keeping up to date with the show, then you’ll know there may be more to the Machine than even Harold imagined, and big plans for Acker’s Root seem to be top of its agenda right now.
