By on March 11, 2012

Dr. Stephen Hawking will encounter Dr. Sheldon Cooper on an upcoming episode of The Big Bang Theory

World renowned theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking will be playing himself in a cameo appearance on the April 5 episode of CBS’ nerdy comedy The BIg Bang Theory. According to TV Guide Canada, Hawking will have a “run-in” with fellow physicist Sheldon (Jim Parsons), just one week after Sheldon encounters another iconic figure (guest star Leonard Nimoy in a dream sequence voice cameo in the March 29 episode).

Dr. Hawking has appeared on several other geek-favorite television shows, including voice appearances in The Simpsons and Futurama, and Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he played a holographic version of himself in a holodeck poker game.

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursday nights at 8 PM ET/PT on CBS.
