The CW Developing ‘Deadman’ As Smallville Replacement
Ever since Smallville ended its 10 season run on the CW back in May, the network has been actively searching for a new franchise to replace it.
CW president Mark Pedowitz expressed the desire to do a superhero show during the TCA Press Tour last month. “We’re looking next year to do a superhero show if the right superhero comes to be,” Pedowitz said at the time.
Well it looks like the right superhero has stepped up to the plate because Deadline reports that Deadman, a drama based on the DC comic by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino is currently in development. The project will be written and executive produced by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.
If Deadman proves even half as successful as Supernatural, the CW is surely onto a winner.
Deadman is about the spirit of Boston Brand, a murdered man who lives on by inhabiting other people’s bodies, helping them to overcome crises in their lives.
