There’s Something in the Air Vent: Syfy’s “Helix” Launch Trailer
We’ve been teased with some short and ominous trailers for Syfy’s upcoming thriller Helix for some time now. (Remember the ominous dripping ‘coffee’ clip?), and while we’re still calling this new “Launch Trailer” a teaser, it does serve as a good indicator as to the show’s tone.
Coming to Syfy sometime early in 2014 (we don’t have a premiere date as yet), Helix is described as an intense thriller about a group of scientists from the Center for Disease Control who travel to the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak. However once there, the team find themselves victims of a mysterious and lethal evolving virus, and the unwitting conspirators of a deadly secret.
The initial 13-episode series is executive produced by Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore, showrunner Steven Maeda (Lost, The X-Files), and Lynda Obst (Contact).
Helix stars Billy Campbell (The Killing) as Dr. Alan Farragut, Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine) as Dr. Hiroshi Hataki, the overseer of the outpost and its mysterious viral research program, Kyra Zagorsky (Soldiers of the Apocalypse) as Dr. Julia Walker, Mark Ghanimé (Emily Owens, M.D.) as Major Sergio Balleseros, Jordan Hayes (House at the End of the Street) as Dr. Sarah Jordan, Meegwun Fairbrother as Daniel Aerov, Catherine Lemieux (White House Down) as Dr. Doreen Boyle and Neil Napier (Riddick) as Dr. Peter Farragut.
Helix is produced by Tall Ship Productions, Kaji Productions and Lynda Obst Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television.
