Tom Baker as Doctor Who's Fourth Doctor

Fans of Doctor Who may get a wonderful present when the beloved British science fiction series turns fifty years old in 2013. Tom Baker, who played the wildly popular scarf-wearing fourth incarnation of the Doctor from 1974 to 1981, is reportedly in talks to reprise his iconic role in the fiftieth anniversary episode, according to an article in the Express.

Baker, now 78, refused to appear in the 1983 20th anniversary Doctor Who special, but the show’s producers are hopeful that he will agree to appear alongside the current Doctor, Matt Smith. Baker has said in recent years that he would consider returning to the show “if they ask me nicely.”
