Shadowhunters will premiere on Jan. 12 2016, but if you really can’t wait that long for a first look at the new fantasy drama from Freeform (or ABC Family as we’re still calling it until the Network undergoes a name change in January) then you may be interested to know the network plans to air Beyond the Shadows: The Making of Shadowhunters on Sunday, December 6th at 9:30 p.m.

This behind the scenes feature will include interviews with cast and crew in addition to offering a sneak peek at the new series.

Based on the bestselling young adult fantasy book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, Shadowhunters follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.

When her mother, Jocelyn, is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.

The series stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway, and Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.

Beyond the Shadows: The Making of Shadowhunters will give fans of The Mortal Instruments book series a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of the television show, which will include the cast talking about how they landed their roles and a glimpse into how the cast got into fighting shape. And for viewers who are new to the Shadow World, the cast explains what Shadowhunters is all about.

The featurette will include interviews with cast members Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Harry Shum, Jr., Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia and Isaiah Mustafa, as well as showrunner Ed Decter and executive producer McG.

But if you really really really can’t wait that long for your first look at Shadowhunters, there’s always this new exclusive sneak peek clip from the pilot episode, sent our way by ABC Family moments ago.
