Person of Interest is about to swell its modest ranks with the addition of a new recurring character.

Although first hints were dropped earlier this year about a new female character who operates from a secret paramilitary organization responsible for tracking down and eliminating terrorists before they can act, Deadline today announced that Sarah Shahi (Chicago Fire, Fairly Legal) would take on the role.

According to the report Shahi’s character Shaw is ‘fearless, sexy and witty.’ Executive producer Jonathan Nolan jokingly remarked that “if James Bond and Sarah Connor had a kid, Shaw would kick its ass.

Shahi’s Shaw is expected to make her debut in episode 2.16 “Reckoning,” which will also be directed by Nolan.

Shaw’s story arc may also move beyond the current season of the hit CBS show.
