Defiance returns for a third season on June 12 on Syfy.

When we last saw Nolan and Irisa, the pair were trapped inside an alien stasis pod beneath the collapsed ruins of Rafe McCawley’s Gulanite mine, with little chance of rescue.

Now as season 3 kicks off, the town of Defiance faces a military siege, dwindling resources, and the attentions of an ancient and savage alien warrior race.

Meanwhile, as Stahma and Datak pursue their family across the frozen wilderness, Christie’s deranged mother Pilar shows what lengths she will go to in order to keep her family safe.

We’ve seen the first handful of episodes a little early, thanks to our friends at Syfy, and have 7 teasers to share with you on what’s to come.

As usual, no direct spoilers! We don’t want to ruin your enjoyment of the season ahead.

Here then are 7 things to know about Defiance season 3.

Time Jump

Defiance fans are used to big storytelling shifts from one season to the next, and the show’s third premiere continues that tradition with two back to back episodes “The World We Seize” and “The Last Unicorns.”

Both offer a strong pacy start to a season in which, once again, everything has changed for the people of Defiance.

The action kicks off some 7 months following that spectacular cave-in at the mine which saw Nolan and Irisa taking refuge inside a stasis pod before their world went dark.

Now with life support running out, Dad and daughter are at risk of imminent death if they aren’t found fast.

The only thing is, no one is looking for them. The townsfolk have enough on their plate as it is, with energy reserves running critically low, and the stasis nets down. And that’s just the start of their problems.

Presumed long dead, something spectacular will have to happen if Nolan and Irisa are to survive.
