Style Crush: Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is currently the biggest female popstar on the planet.

She really could not be easier to relate to except for maybe the whole ‘playing to thousands every night on sold out tours’ thing. Other than that she’s fairly normal. She’s funny, she loves baking, posting photos of her cats on Instagam, and above all else, wears fairly affordable, stylish clothing which makes her the perfect candidate for Style Crush.

Taylor’s style is girly and feminine. For award shows and events, naturally, her look gets punched up a few notches but still maintains that same core. Her every day style is really what stands out for me. The outfits are always well put together even for, say, leaving the gym.

The biggest appeal about her style is its comfortable and achievable quality. Her fans are mostly young and they are trying to figure out what works for them. Having a style icon that really dresses like a normal human being is a wonderful gift. Her outfits contain pieces that are, for the most part, budget friendly and can be bought at stores like Topshop or can be duped at other stores more affordably. Many of her daily outfits can easily be created with items that most people already have in their closets. She does try and toss in trendy pieces every now and again, but for the most part the items are classic and wearable beyond the life of a trendy piece.

This particular look features some of the trendier pieces mentioned before. A little black dress and black ankle boots are always in, but a jeweled headband and mini bag? Not so much. The trendier items in this set can easily be paired with other outfits and aren’t all that expensive which makes them worth investing it even if they don’t stand the style circle.

This look is great for spring. The sweater could be a bit heavy for some warmer spring days, but add a nice tank top underneath and it’s good to go. Layers are always a good idea. Not a fan of heels? Switch them out for a nice pair of Keds.

The best piece of this look is her camel coat. Paired together with an all black outfit, the coat stands out and makes the look extra chic. Camel was a popular color last winterwhich is why it’s a great choice for a long lasting winter coat.

This shot from Taylor’s Keds ad campaign is a perfect spring look. Taylor really loves the skirt/crop combination and they are readily available. They serve a lot of function and create loads of styling options since the pieces can be mix and matched. Keds make some of the best sneakers I’ve ever worn so I absolutely love she is their new spokesperson. They come in tons of designs and colors now so they are perfect for any outfit.
