Sharp Objects, an eight-episode limited run drama series will air on HBO, July 8th.
The series, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl), stars Amy Adams as reporter Camille Preaker, who returns to her small hometown following a brief stay at a psych hospital after years of self-harm.
Camille’s mission is to cover the murder of a preteen girl and the disappearance of another. However, she must also deal with her estranged family, and the life she thought she had left far behind. In trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her own past, Camille soon finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.
Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins and Matt Craven also star, as well as Henry Czerny, Taylor John Smith, Sophia Lillis and Madison Davenport.
Jean-Marc Vallée (Big Little Lies) directs all episodes and co-edits the series, which is created by Marti Noxon, who serves as showrunner, and writes several episodes, as does Gillian Flynn.
The executive producers are Marti Noxon, Jean-Marc Vallée, Amy Adams, Gillian Flynn, Jason Blum, Nathan Ross, Charles Layton, Jessica Rhoades, Gregg Fienberg, Marci Wiseman and Jeremy Gold.
Sharp Objects debuts Sunday, July 8 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT), on HBO.
