THE BLACKLIST 5×01 “Smokey Putnum” Photos

By on September 7, 2017

They’re here — 30 brand new photos from the season 5 premiere of NBC’s The Blacklist.

The show returns on Sept. 27 with a premiere that picks up the pieces from last season’s dramatic events. With his criminal empire in ruins, a surprisingly carefree Red (James Spader) enlists Liz (Megan Boone) in an unlikely plan to simultaneously earn cash and deliver a new Blacklister to the Task Force.

But as Liz faces the new reality of working alongside her father, Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) finds himself in a precarious position.

Meanwhile, Tom (Ryan Eggold) weighs his options.

Carefree you say? Just how carefree? Check our gallery below for a couple of photos of Red as you’ve never quite seen him before.

Harry Lennix, Amir Arison, Mozhan Marnò and Hisham Tawfiq also star in the season premiere, with Michael Aronov, James Carpinello and Aida Turturro guest starring.

NBC teases the season ahead as follows:

Feeling surprisingly unencumbered, Raymond Reddington (James Spader) is back and in the process of rebuilding his criminal empire. His lust for life is ever-present as he lays the foundation for this new enterprise — one that he’ll design with Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) by his side. Living with the reality that Red is her father, Liz finds herself torn between her role as an FBI agent and the temptation to act on her more criminal instincts. In a world where the search for Blacklisters has become a family trade, Red will undoubtedly reclaim his moniker as the “Concierge of Crime.”

“Smokey Putnum” airs Wednesday, Sept. 27 (8:00-9:00 pm) on NBC.
