Season 5 of Chicago PD is just around the corner, with a premiere date of Sept. 27.

Just enough time to get caught up with the latest details from the season 5 premiere “Reform” and two brand new sneak peeks.

NBC teases that the episode will see top brass investigating Halstead’s (Jesse Lee Soffer) involvement in a difficult op in which a young bystander is shot.

The episode will see changes in the district as the new season kicks off. Lindsay has moved to New York, and the CPD is under scrutiny about the corrupt nature of its institution. Under the watchful eye of the city, the team attempts business as usual, busting a gun deal that quickly turns dicey when innocent civilians and children from an illegal daycare center get involved.

Following the fallout, tension erupts as Chief Lugo (guest star Esai Morales) brings in Denny Woods (guest star Mykelti Williamson) to review the shootout, and Halstead becomes a key player in the outcome of the case.

The action kicks off Wednesday, September 27 (10:00-11:00 pm) on NBC, but first those sneak peeks.

In the first, we see just how things go down in that tense Halstead shootout. (Who knew a single bullet could do that much damage?) Clip 2 meanwhile sees Voight defending Halstead’s actions amid a PR storm and intense scrutiny from brass.

Chicago PD returns Wednesday, September 27 (10:00-11:00 pm) on NBC.
