Admit it. When you first fell in love with James Spader’s Raymond Reddington you knew you were plunging down a murky and morally ambiguous rabbit hole to destinations unknown.

Yes, you knew Red was a killer with a dark history of violence and a revenge-fueled ‘black list’ filled with the names of all those who had wronged him.  In short, you knew Red was not one to suffer a betrayal, especially one of the heart, and especially not where Elizabeth Keen was concerned.

And yet, you held out hope that Red would somehow find it within himself to forgive Kate Kaplan (Susan Blommaert), his loyal cleaner and confidante of many years, for her role in helping Liz slip away. After all, as Kate maintained, she was still acting out of loyalty, even if that loyalty seemed to Red, in his current state of mind, as displaced.

But hope was dashed in last week’s “Mato” when Red led Kate to a peaceful glade in a secluded wood and shot her, assassination style, presuming her body and all of her Raymond Reddington secrets would never be unearthed.

However, the last laugh may be on Kate, whose hand we saw clawing at the earth some moments following Red’s departure. Mr Kaplan lives! And Red may have just created a revenge-fueled monster not even he can contain. How angry would you be if led to your attempted death in the same manner? We can only wonder at where Kate’s journey will take her next, but we do know if she chooses to attempt to sink Red, he will surely be facing his most formidable enemy yet.

The story continues in Thursday’s “Miles McGrath,” an episode that will see Red and the Task Force teaming up once again to hunt down one of Alexander Kirk’s allies, Miles McGrath (Tate Ellington), a “criminal incubator” who finances crimes for profit. And according to NBC, Red’s measures, as he closes in on Kirk, will be “extreme” to say the least.

Meanwhile, Liz (Megan Boone), still reeling from the loss of her baby, and her short but memorable stay at the Summer Palace, will learn more about her family. However, when Red uncovers a lead concerning baby Agnes’ whereabouts, his fractured relationship with Liz leaves her out in the cold.

If you just can’t wait until Thursday (Who likes waiting, right?) we’ve got 2 exclusive new clips to share with you including that Red and Liz confrontation we all knew was coming.

The “Miles McGrath” episode of The Blacklist airs Thursday Oct. 6 on NBC.
