Like an unfortunate case of toxic masculinity Suits returns this week, post Mike and Rachel's emotional departure, to emphatically let us all know "I'm not crying! You're crying!"

In fact there are so many adversarial moments of testosterone-fuelled one-upmanship in the premiere episode you'd be forgiven for thinking last season's dreamy, heartfelt and romantic finale was just that. A dream. Dry those tears! It's back to business -- and then some.

Guys, can't we all just make nice for once? Apparently not. The season 8 premiere finds Harvey and Robert going at it -- playfully at first -- as they spar over who will lead the firm going forward.

Lines are good-naturedly drawn, stances formed, and bluffs called, as each throws his hat in the ring. The one thing both men can readily agree on however is that the name Litt will not be a contender any time soon.

However, as their competitive natures begin to run away with them, both Robert and Harvey find themselves thrown into a pitched battle the firm could really do without right now.

We've seen the episode a little early, thanks to our friends at USA Network, and have a couple of teasers to share with you below. As always, we avoid any outright spoilers that would ruin the various surprises, twists and turns the premiere contains. New Faces

Katherine Heigl joins the series as Samantha Wheeler, a capable character with a murky past, who soon proves to be a formidable adversary for Harvey.

Wait. Aren’t these two supposed to play for the same team? Technically yes, but as Harvey soon learns, Sam is Robert’s “fixer” — or pseudo Mike, and wastes no time letting Harvey know where her very strong loyalties lie.

Your eyes may literally water from all the vitriol.
