CASTLE: 6 Things to Know About the Season 8 Premiere

By on September 15, 2015

(ABC/Colleen Hayes) NATHAN FILLION

Castle is back on Sept. 21 with "XY," an intense and dramatic two part episode which really hits the ground running.

The episode sees a call from a secret contact setting in motion a chain of events encompassing a powerful league of assassins, Beckett's unexplained disappearance, and the disgraced former senator Bracken.

Told from Castle's perspective (don't worry, you'll still see plenty of our girl), the premiere will follow Rick's desperate search for his wife. Along the way he'll meet Hayley, a smart talking, tough as nails British security specialist, some seriously tough antagonists, and some furry friends.

We've seen the episode a little early, thanks to our friends over at ABC, and have a collection of teasers to share with you. As usual, we've tried to avoid outright plot spoilers (We want you to enjoy the premiere as much as we did) but we urge you to exercise caution anyway, as one man's teaser is another man's spoiler ...

Without further ado, here are 6 things to know about Castle's season 8 Premiere.

Dammit Kate, Where are You?

Shown entirely from Castle’s perspective (this week anyway) “XY” shows us Castle’s deep unease at being lied to by Beckett, and it’s not long before he gives voice to his secret fear that his wife no longer trusts him.

Of course, those fears are worked upon and magnified when Castle pays a visit to the disgraced former senator Bracken, now languishing in jail. Bracken is all too happy to tell Castle that he and Beckett are not cut from the same cloth.

“You don’t even know who she is,” he tells a distraught Rick, before going on to mention tilting at windmills, moths to flames and a whole lot of other metaphors.

You had us at “you don’t know who she is,” Bracken! Then you went and spoiled it.
