Ok, we kind of love this latest promo trailer for CBS’ upcoming Supergirl series.

The clip takes a more somber tone, highlighting Kara’s doubts and insecurities in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, and offers a refreshing angle to some of the lighter fare we’ve seen to date.

The series, following the amazing adventures of Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, who learns to embrace (and love) her powers after keeping them under wraps on earth for over 12 years.

When we first meet Kara (Melissa Benoist) in the series’ pilot episode, she’s struggling with her identity while working in National City as an assistant to media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart).

However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw, head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime – says CBS.

Supergirl premieres Monday, Oct. 26 (8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT), on CBS before moving to its regular time period (8:00-9:00 PM) on Monday, Nov. 2.
