Community Removed From NBC’s Schedule

Much to the dismay of its fans, the quirky nerd-culture favorite Community will not be returning to NBC after the winter hiatus … or will it?

The network has confirmed that Community, which has not been getting high ratings this season, has been removed from the schedule (along with newcomer cop show Prime Suspect). However, network insiders insist that Community will be coming back at an unspecified future date, and is “not canceled.” The same is not being said about Prime Suspect, the future of which is even more uncertain.

Community, with its smart, sharply satirical plots and many references to pop culture, has been praised by critics since its start in 2009 and has remained popular with SF/fantasy genre fans. Unfortunately, despite the quality of the shows so far in Season 3, the ratings have continued to disappoint. Here’s hoping NBC is right and the show will return – preferably with even more wonderful scripts, and higher ratings!
