It’s on. The CW has announced official dates for what has become a highly anticipated annual superhero crossover event featuring our favorite characters from Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl.
This year the action kicks off on The Flash on Dec. 9, before picking up the pieces in Arrow on Dec. 10 and in Supergirl on Dec. 11. (The CW tells us that for this year’s crossover, The Flash and Supergirl will swap time periods as a one time only thing.)
The crossover will also mark the first appearance of Batwoman with Ruby Rose stepping into the leathers of the out lesbian street fighting super heroine.
With a Batwoman TV series already in development, fans will have to wait to see Rose again, post crossover, until sometime during the 2019/20 TV season.
The loglines for the new Batwoman series read as follow:
Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope. Based on the characters from DC.
Along with Batwoman, crossover viewers will also see Superman’s crush Lois Lane, who despite being mentioned several times on the show, and referenced as Cat Grant’s (journalistic) nemesis, has yet to make an appearance in physical form on Supergirl.
In a statement, co-executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner teased:
“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse. This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”
Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman will also make a return to the show for the crossover.
